A trusted partner in developing Uganda's most impactful leaders and organisations since 2014.
River Lantern Yard Consulting was established in 2014 by a group of seasoned professionals who saw an urgent need to bridge the gap between potential and performance in Uganda's growing corporate sector. Based in the heart of Kampala, we have grown from a boutique coaching practice into East Africa's most referenced leadership development firm. Our name reflects our philosophy: a river flows with purpose and direction, a lantern brings clarity in uncertainty, and a yard is a place of intentional work and craft.
What began as a small team of three coaches serving five local businesses has transformed into a multidisciplinary practice of over twenty consultants, organisational psychologists, and certified executive coaches — all united by a shared belief that African leadership deserves a uniquely African approach. We do not import frameworks and apply them wholesale. Instead, we contextualise global best practices within Uganda's cultural, economic, and social landscape to create sustainable, deeply resonant change.
Over more than a decade, we have partnered with public institutions, multinational corporations, NGOs, family businesses, and government agencies. Our work spans executive coaching, group mentoring programmes, organisational culture audits, board advisory services, and immersive leadership retreats held at inspiring locations across East Africa. Every engagement is driven by one unwavering commitment: to leave every leader, team, and organisation measurably and meaningfully better than we found them.
The convictions that drive everything we do — from every coaching session to every strategic partnership.
To develop transformative leaders and organisations across East Africa through evidence-based coaching, mentoring, and consulting — creating sustainable impact that ripples through generations.
A continent where every professional reaches their highest potential, guided by purpose-driven leadership that honours African identity, collective wisdom, and the pursuit of excellence.
We combine the rigour of global best practice with the authenticity of local insight — delivering outcomes that actually stick.
From a small coaching practice to East Africa's leading leadership consultancy — every year has brought new growth and impact.
River Lantern Yard Consulting Ltd is incorporated at Plot 56 Lumumba Avenue, Kampala, with a founding team of three certified coaches and a mission to transform East African leadership.
MTN Uganda becomes our first blue-chip corporate partner, commissioning a twelve-month executive coaching programme for their senior leadership team — a landmark that established our reputation in the telecoms sector.
We introduced our flagship Group Mentoring Programme, designed for mid-level managers across multiple industries. The cohort model created powerful peer-learning communities that have since produced over 60 senior leaders.
When the pandemic forced a global pivot, we rapidly developed our virtual coaching infrastructure — allowing us to serve existing clients without interruption and expand our reach to leaders who had previously been geographically inaccessible.
We formally expanded our operations to Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, establishing associate networks in each country and delivering our first pan-regional leadership summit attended by over 200 executives.
We celebrated a remarkable milestone — over 500 individual leaders coached since our founding. This achievement was marked with our inaugural Alumni Leadership Forum, bringing together graduates from across our programme history for a day of reflection, reconnection, and renewed commitment.
River Lantern Yard achieves international accreditation from the International Coaching Federation, recognising the quality, ethics, and impact of our programmes — and opening doors to global partnerships that will define our next decade.
